OK. I'm 16, 6', and black. I've never had a girlfriend before. The girl (who I will not name) is my age, a reasonably close height, and indian. I've known her from the 3rd or 4th grade, and have always had a crush on her. I think I broke the world record for having the longest crush on a specific girl (lol). But anyway, she's a nice girl, i'm a nice guy (as in not a jerk), but we don't really talk that much, and haven't since elementary school. She's single and has been single for a while. She likes to dance, but (unfortunately) sprained something related to the knee/leg, and won't be dancing until after it fully heals (the cast is off, though!).

Our parents are friends and occasionally go to concerts/dinner together (not that often, though). They have just started that after my parents' friend introduced them to her parents (who they immediately recognized from elementary school). Our moms know each other because of an "interesting" event that occurred in elementary school.

I told her I loved her. Not like I was being one of those jerks or something that say that and don't mean it. I was a kid, what did I kno about love? I was just a kid, and she was like this person with whom I felt I really liked.

We were in 2 classes together last year, but we might not be this year. I have her screen name, though. She came over to my house once to do a video project (since members of our family are pro video people, so we have some pro equipment/training), and felt right at home. She came in and sat in the chair right next to me in the living room, and wanted to help me operate the camera.

If you look into my other questions, you'll find out that I am in a town where girls that like me (and visa versa) are REALLY hard to find, b/c of drinking, drugs, racism (conscious or unconscious). Finding single people who aren't into all that is difficult if not impossible. But I have always felt that if only I could get to know her better (or I guess the right word is "again"), I would be so happy if I could just get her to realize how I feel and if she felt the same way. If you have any suggestions, please let me kno. I appreciate it fully!

I gather you wish to have, at least, a real date with this young lady.
I also gather you are a bit shy around her and you both really don't talk much.
So, with those thoughts in mind (if true) become a closer friend by really getting to know her. Think up something really nice that you both can do together while her leg heals. There are other things to do in the world besides dancing-even though it is fun.
If she lives close enough-go see her or even call her to START talking and it will make you both feel good.
Do you know for a fact that she is single? She could still be getting over someone too. Sometimes that takes a good while.
A small inexpensive gift would be a nice ice breaker-like a red rose. That may sound corney but it still works.
Good luck

I know you got cut off before you could finish your story. It's cool.

Go for it. Do not hold back. I do all the time and gets me no where. Do not be like me. If you truly like her, then make it happen.

My buddy Jerome once told me the only way you will ever be successful at anything is if you OWN your actions...even the mistakes. So go for it. And even if she turns you down, OWN the moment you asked her...because it truly does take balls. Ask her to dinner...movies...anything that doesn't require a lot of foot work. Tell her you'll take her dancing when she's healed. If you aren't driving yet, your parents are friends with her parents, right? Let them chaperone until you ARE able to drive. She'll understand. Be respectful of her. Be a gentleman.

OWN IT!!! I wish you luck.

Yeah, say to her, "hey, let's spend some time together."

And it can be anything! When I was in high school, my girl friend and I played cards a lot -- she loved to beat me in gin! The key is time spent together enjoy each other's company.

Most guys don't like to just sit and talk, they like to do something -- so dinner is a winner.

Luck.

Get her address and send her flowers not roses it may scare her off and upset her parents, send something like daisys or lilys. Don't put your name put your email address or screen name ion the card and tell her that you really would like talk with her. If she emails you Your in!!!! Then after chatting a while tell her who you are and wait for her response. It's romantic and cute and not too forward.

I'm unsure of your question, but I will say this:

If you have liked this girl for that long then it is about time you asked her out. The worst thing she could say is no right? So go for it...you might be surprised by the answer.

So therefore, you have a good start......You already know her, know that she isn't married or dating, and know her parents.....If I were you, I would give her a call and ask her how she is feeling (since she was hurt).......This will open the door for other conversation, and there you are!!!!!!! Take care, dear........

Just ask her out. I'm sure if she likes you back, she will be happy to become your girlfriend.
