well first recruiters dont change ship dates...

if the Head shed weenies at MEPS changed it, they should have informed the recruiter... of course they don't tell the recruiter directly, it goes through a few channels to get to him but the information shouldn't take more than a day to get to you...

without knowing specific details, it sounds to me like someone dropped the ball on something. I suggest you find out the exact details of what happened and why, (Mind you, your not going to get your recruiter or his boss to admit that "Yeah we effed something up" if that is the case) if your not satisfied with what your recruiter or the station commander give you, go over thier head to get to the bottom of it. (I wouldn't recommend that approach with most military organizations, but Recruiters are true BS artists and I don't think you'll get a straight answer from them. they'll have you convinced that your the one who changed it and you absolutely need to buy this bridge they have in Brooklyn for sale...) As a last resort contact this guy: harold.blount@usarec.army.mil , I would think he would have a little clout in the recruiting community and can get you an accurate answer with no BS. (He's the Command Sergeant Major over all of Recruiting Command - he's in charge of taking care of soldiers (DEPS included) in the Command. If you must contact him, don't BS him. Respectfully tell him straight up who told you what, and why it sounds fishy to you, and what you believe it will take to fix the problem. Make sure your ducks are in a row and your ready to hear a reply from him, If he's anything like the CSM that was there when I was there, he'll get to the bottom of it, but the answer may not be what you want to hear but it will be the bottom line.

And remember this - Recruiters by and large (I'd say 99% of them) are good honest people who are working hard under intense pressure to accomplish thier mission, sometimes things slip through the cracks, and young Soldiers like yourself, get caught in that crack. The last thing a recruiter wants to do is mess around and get a DEP (someone he's already counting on) all pissed off.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ! ! ! AND GOD BLESS YOU! ! !

thanks for goin ARMY! !

well, i guess they didnt tell you this... when you signed up, you were contracted. at that point the government is free to send you where they want/need you and whenever that want/need arises. I STRONGLY doubt your recruiter OR MEPS had much to do with it.

funny thing is, i ran into the same situation. I was told I had four months after graduating college before reporting to my first base, then about two days before graduation i finally got told that my leave time had been cut down to only a month. oh well, at least i got to do some laying out in the sun

No. You have a contract with the military and ANY changes have to be approved/signed by both parties of the contract.
