Broke up with my gf. It wasn't a hard break, but she took it hard. I still like her as a friend. I have overheard her saying that she wants to win me back, but this isn't something that is likely to happen. However, i just heard from a mutual friend that she is just looking to be friends. I don't want to encourage her, but i would like to remain friends. By the way, we broke up about 5 days ago. Ideas?

If you still wanna be friends with her then talk to her like friends. Dont flirt or do anything that might give her an idea that u like her more than that. Talk to her like u do with anyother friend, as long as you act like a friend u will be a friend, n if she dont like it that way then its her loss bud

If you don't want to encourage her, you need to stop talking to her for a while. Saying hi and all that is fine, but for a couple weeks, just don't say too much to her. Give her some time to come to terms with the idea that you two will not be an item again. Then when it looks like she is doing better, you can speak with her more often again.

That's what I'd guess might work. I'm not used to lots of casual dating and friendships. It's what I've seen a lot of people do though.

Give her some time and space. Do not attempt the "friends" thing till you are certain that is all she is seeking and not trying to win you back. Women have a real hard time with rejection sometimes no matter what the circumstances. Be firm with her, forget the gentle crap she may easily take gentle for a budding romance. Believe what you heard her say, even if you did overhear it! The mutual friend may mean well, but your communication needs to be directly with her if you are going to communicate at all, not with friends.

give it time, that way you can be friends with only positive rememberances of the other and no unresolved issues come into play.

Give yourself and her more time. Time will reveal whether the decision made is right or wrong.

Let it go don't hurt a person knowingly. Let the relationship go.
