I went to school with a guy named Loren...and was a really "popular" kid. A name is just that. Changing your name is not going to change who you are inside.

I'm sorry to say this but you might be right. Ashely can make a not so great impression. However, once a girl gets to know you then there really is no problem. I thik having your name is a inconvenience when you meet a girl for the first time but other then that it really doesnt matter. BTW changing a name is a hassle. It takes forever and you have pay lots of money.

I personally think Ashley is a great name for girls and guys, and if you are confident enough to keep it, go ahead. But if you really think that girls aren't attracted to you because of your name and it makes you insecure, change it. But, by the way, Jacob isn't very original. Go with something like Chase or Riley.

I wouldn't change your name. I would change the girls. Be who you are, and be proud of it!!! If some chick doesn't take you seriously.. then that is her problem she is missing out. And you don't need her. Look at Elisha Manning now known as Eli Manning for the Giants. Or Peyton Manning for the Colts. Do you think those guys didn't get some grief for their names. Heck ya, I'm sure they did when they were younger. However, you remember their names because they became stronger.. they didn't let anyone stand in front of them for their dreams even with names that sound like girls names. Don't change a thing about yourself, except get stronger, and get rid of anyone who doesn't appreciate you

Hi Ash, On my birth certificate my name is Gayle. I grew up hating that name. I hated it ever time I heard it. I hated the way it's spelled, sounds, looks. After my divorce I moved to a new city, got a new job, and gave myself an Alis. Abigayle. Everyone called me Abbey. I love that! For eight years I used that name as an Alis. After my second divorce I took the opportunity to make it legal by changing my name during the divorce decree. From that day forward I legally became Abigayle!!Yeah for me!!
Now my parents and my sister still have a hard time understanding the whys of it. They try all the time to call me abbey or abigayle but as they say "you'll always be Gayle to me" I hate that!! I love them and forgive them for that. Even though I have been Abigayle longer than I was Gayle.
I say if you don't like your name then change it. It's your name it say alot about who your are and how you feel about yourself.
I have a male friend and his name is LaVern. He wouldn't dream of changing the name his parents gave him
Hope this helps
p/s my sons name is Damien. kids always made fun of him and bullied him. He got into lots of fights and it became a big problem. He wanted to go by his middle name and he has been James for 17 years. It sure help him. I thought it was a great idea and was glad that he was okay with it.

i'm a guy.....
Don't feel bad about your name... It's a rare name for a guy.... Look at Jessie McCartney... his name sounds like it's for a girl but he used it. His proud of it.....And if you look at the site that is included in this answer you could see that The world is using ASHLEY either as masculine or feminine in form...
And besides, doesn't Jacob sounds too OLD... you think girls will stick with a name that is not suited for you? Remember that our FIRST ( THE UNCHANGED ) name tells who we are...
ASHLEY for example sounds soft and comforting and that's what girls are looking for; a guy who would tenderly care for them even while doing S3X...

Ashley is pretty original if you ask me!
Any girl that isn't taking you seriously because of a name isn't worth your time. Your name says nothing about you, you didn't even have a choice in it.
Right now, it is just up to you...do you want that name or would you rather change it? Its all about how you feel...not someone else!

No KEEP Ashley!! Haven't you ever hear of Ashley Parker Angel?!?! There is nothing wrong at all with feminine names. I know a guy named Morgan and he doesn't have a problem.

Ashley is a great name for a guy!! Personally I find it sexy when a guy can pull off a name that's generally known as a feminine name. Kinda like when a guy wears pink... If they do it right and it fits them, then it works.

Well, I am sorry that your parents chose to name you that. However, I grew up with a guy named leslie and he is married now. He did however go by a nickname most of the time, but his name was not secret.
