When I was much younger and before I established my credit I was paying about $467/month. I did that for a year, but then refinanced through my credit union and got it down to about $325/month.

What I learned at a young age is how important it is to establish credit and maintain a good credit rating. Now after several years of focusing on my credit I can pretty much get a good rate on anything. Hang in there, pay your note on time for several months then check into refinancing it.

In 90 when I bought my dodge ramcharger new, the car payment was $374 per month forever---it is finally paid for and in fact now has a new engine that I owe $3200 on. It never stops.

I work for a bank and trust me I am sure there are people paying a lot more, I've seen lease's for about 2,500 a month and they don't even own the car! Its not everyday that I see that but its something I probably see about once a month, maybe every other month.

We just bought a Honda Ridgeline 4x4...its the most weve ever paid for a car and its the highest payment weve ever had. But weve been told that Hondas run for a long long time, so its worth it. Reliability is what we bought, so, yea, worth it.

All things being relative....I paid $136 x month for a 2 year old Corvette in 1968 for 36 months.....it was 1/2 of my pay when you factored in insurance......how much do you make a month?....how does that compare percentage wise?.....my pay went up $250 about a year later and I thought I was rich!!...couldn't spend it in Vietnam though!!!!!.....AIRBORNE!!

$393.77 is my current car payment. I had a payment around $390.00 back in the early 90's, that seemed higher since my salary was smaller then. Of course I didn't have kids then either!!
