I read once where after brutal battles, before the bible days, warriors would string intestines and such along a tree. Known as the "battle" or "war" tree. I haven't found that article since. Can anyone help?

It is possible. After all, Dracula (Vlad the Impaler) decorated his fields with impaled dying people and chopped up heads. There is no limit to the cruelty humans can exhibit. Is that the origin of the X-mas tree? I don't think so but what do I know?

not too sure about trees being decorated but stakes and staves were used in order to show the reprocussions of some battles and their victorious leaders to place their wrath before other people and to scare them into thinking that it could and would happen to them...On a lighter note I was once told of a scorned woman who cut her husbands penis off on xmas eve and placed it on her tree because she had found out he had committed adultery....ouch merry christmas baby

There's no concrete evidence of the Christmas Tree's origin.

they call it a Christmas tree because it has Christ before it so i looked for war tree...found nothing on decorations of that type. But do not let it confuse you as a part of Christ mas. :-)

i could say money tree, yet i already have been given a money tree in terms of employer so a donut tree that produces all varieties of donuts that are no longer undesirable for you would be heaven in a bow.

They may have done so but, I don't think it had any thing to do with celebrating Christmas.
