I am 13. If I own something because I bought it, do my parents have the legal right to take it away as a punishment?

Being a teen is not easy at all,and nothing ever seems fair,but until you are grown and out of the home,your stuff really isn't yours,so they have every right to take it away,I'm sure they must have a good reason for taking it.So just sit tight and try not to be upset with them and you soon will have your item back.

yes, they do- i know when i was 13 i thought the same thing but yes even if u bought it and i'm going to take a wild guess that its a cell phone or ipod and its not a right for u to have it wether u bought it or not- sorry that wasnt apart of the constitution

When you're 13, your parents can take anything you own away, and punish you any way the law permits.

The answer is yes, as much as this hurts to hear. Until you are18 they have the legal right to act in your best interest.

Yes, unfortunately. They own everything you own. Its why a lot of child actors emancipated themselves before their parents spent all their hard earned money.

As a minor, you have no rights!! Do what you're told so you don't have to be punished.

yup, accept it cause its unfortunatly just going to happen. Arguing just equals more problems.
