if you are looking to adopt a baby go to your local child services to find out if they have any babies available. I am a foster parent from Canada and I know that going through Child services is way cheaper than private adoptions.

Look in your phone book for local adoption agencies. They can help you with proper placement of your baby or help you get on a list for adopting a baby. Some agencies have profiles they hold onto and the woman placing their baby up for adoption can look through these profiles and choose a family. You can look at references and online profiles of each adoption agency to see how creditable it is.

I gave a baby up for adoption a few years ago in Kentucky and I used LDS social services. I would never ever use them again. I was very unhappy. I can tell you from my experience that you need to find an agency that will respect your rights and protect your feelings. Its a very difficult and rough time and you will need to be involved with sensitive people. If you have any more questions I would be happy to help.

I myself was put up for adoption in Michigan in 1971. My birthmother went thru a Catholic Service because she wanted me raised by a Catholic family. It was closed adoption, I think they all were back then. My adoptive parents were given some info about my birthparents as far as height, weight, eye and hari color and any family medical problems like cancer or heart conditions.
I found my birth mom 6 yrs ago and my birth dad 2 yrs ago. I see my mom every summer, my dad met me once and hasn't contacted me since. I can live with that. But if you want a certain family type to raise the child yo can talk to your church or go thru the yellow pages and talk to many agencies. Each has a different way of handling things. Interview with them and pick the best one. Good luck!
