Bishop Spong and others have advanced the theory that Paul was actually a homosexual. There appears to be convincing evidence in the Bible that he was gay. Given this fact, would you want to go camping, alone, in the woods with him for a few weeks. Just the two of you, sharing a tent?

Actually there is pretty compelling evidence in the Secret Gospel of Mark that Jesus was doing something, um, questionable with the "Bethany youth" just before he returned to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. They apparently spent about a week together during which they were both naked. Of course, it could have been totally innocent. I don't know, I wasn't there.

A practicing homosexual would NEVER have advanced in the Jewish faith the way Saul of Tarsus did. He would not have been so zealous for "the traditions of his fathers" if his life was lived in direct rebellion against those traditions (teachings), which included a ban on homosexuality!

Some people may question Saul's sexual drives, since they cannot find any reference to a wife, but he may simply not have married prior to his conversion. He was a really busy guy, running from one house to another, dragging out entire households and sending them to prison, traveling to different towns in his personal jihad, and even to foreign cities for his religious persecution. Who has time for a family life when they are frothing at the mouth against "infidels" or "cultists"? He was just too busy being "zealous" to be a good friend, much less a good husband.

I have no idea who Bishop Spong is. I would like to hear on what he bases his wild assumptions.

Jesus would not have given him an apostleship if he was gay as it goes against God's standards. Romans 1:24-28 Jude 7 Paul penned 14 books in the Bible, his knowledge would be quite welcomed. People twist Scriptures for their own desires to their own destruction. 2 Peter 3:16

I would like to know were in the Bible this is stated. Goldwing, The bible states that the man is to be the spiritual head of the household therefore it makes perfect sense for the men to follow Jesus. However it does state that Marry also followed after wiping Jesus feet with her tears and hair.

I would prefer to have my own tent in any case actually, but hanging out with apostle Paul would be AWESOME!

GAY!? please show me this evidence or at least some scripture!!!
And you say bishop? cmon! catholics have a messed up doctrine! Saying Paul was gay is more contradictory to their own religion than saying the pope is holy or that mary is special in the way they say.

Paul changed the teachings of Jesus. for example Jesus said that till the earth and the heavens disappeared a letter from the law should not be changed. But Paul said that you don't need to follow the law if you just believe that Jesus died for you!!! Jesus as a jew never ate pork but Paul said it's ok to eat pork. Jesus was circumsized but Paul said it's not important . the trinity idea came from Paul not from Jesus. Jesus said that there will be false prophets come after me , But the christians never think that Paul is the one that Jesus was warning them about. Read about Islam

probably. they were all gay weren't they? jesus included.
is there anything in the bible about them getting women? i mean christians get so bent out of shape to think that Jesus had a thing with Mary M. Ok, so he never had a woman. I sure if he had a man, it wasn't well publicized, he could probably get crucified for something like that in the middle east back then (and now).

I think xtians' rampant homophobia is due to their denial that Jesus (and Paul) was gay.

Yes, supposedly so. Which brings up deeper questions, questions that many Christians do not want to face, doesn't it? Jesus, a grown man, has nothing to do with women, but lives with 13 men, day and night, eating together, sleeping together...hmmm. You can bet that if Jesus were here today, your Christian friends would be damning him to hell. As for those who are Still coming off with the hell fire and damnation, as above in answers,....no wonder so many Christians are considered poison to the soul. So pious, so pompous..
