yeah.. I feel ya.. I'm a chronic migraine sufferer.. since the age of 14..
:(((((((((

it does ruin your life.. and the days without a migraine or border line migraine.. are sooo appreciated.. I don't take for granted anything.. when I'm feeling fine.. like the sound of music or the scent of freshly mowed grass.

Mine get so bad that even burying my head under a pillow with an ice cold rag on my forehead .. doesn't even work any more..
:((((((((

I know as soon as I wake up.. if I'll suffer one that day.

I've yet to come across a medication that will help me. For now, I'm reduced to Migraine Excedrin. It helps 50/50.

Yes I certainly do know what you mean. I get the flashing auras as well. Not always, but sometimes. I have been saved a lot of days spent in bed by Relpax, but now I take an even better drug for migraines called Maxalt. It is a life-saver. It generally knocks them out in about fifteen minutes. The only side effect I have noticed with the Maxalt is it makes me sleepy. Relpax did not make me sleepy, but Maxalt works better. Ask your doctor about it. If you get the auras a lot, make sure that you take your meds as soon as you see the flashing. This is better then waiting to let a full-blown one hit. I have heard of people taking Topamax as a migraine prevention, but I would not like being on a med all of the time. I used to have at least a migraine a week, but now since I have had some muscle issues corrected in my left shoulder, I only have migraines about once every couple of months. For those times I have Maxalt. NOTE: Maxalt is NOT a prevenative drug as the person above mentioned, Topamax is, but not Maxalt.

I get one almost every day since I was 5 and the weirdest things trigger them and people think I'm crazy. I can't be around bleach, strony perfume, rainy days, skipping meals, wearing my hair too tight or one of those claw hair things. Alcohol will make it worse. Rude and stupid people cause them too.

Oilman you must not really be having a migraine if youre peddling some herbal junk. I've tried all that and all the OTC. If youre a kid you get immune to that fast. I took tylenol, advil, then alleve. It only took a couple of years for alleve to stop working and I get tired of them saying all that ruins your liver. If that's the case mine was ruined before puberty. I have bad year round allergies too, that doesn't help. The doctors would never give my a prescription when I had an MRI at 15. I don't get an aura like you guys. How lucky.

I've been taking goody powders for 2 years, its the only thing that phases it-half the time.

For good info and excellent advice on migraines in general see:
Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine - Murray & Pizzorno
Prescription for Natural Cures - Balch & Stengler
Digestive Wellness - Elizabeth Balch also discusses headaches
Some people have gotten good results from taking monavie juice
Feverfew sometimes helps prevent them or make them less severe. Calcium-Magnesium-zinc pills 3 times a day may help too

Ihave had them for almost 30 years. I didn't know they were migraines for a very long time. There are preventative medications available. See a doctor and ask about Maxalt for prevention. There are also some good episodic drug treatments available.

My daughter gets them and has since she was in fourth grade. She also gets the aura before hand, which is actually a blessing, because you can take meds for it before the headache even hits. It lessens the severity of the headache and nausea, and the rest. My daughter can usually just take Aleve that will help enough to get her through it, along with sleep.

UGH- I hate them things---they will actually put me out for the day if I don't catch it in time. I did notice that a day before one hits, I just don't feel right, like something off. I get sick, light sensitive, and sometimes touch sensitive. Nothing helps except a good Immitrex....

Migraine headaches can really be debilitating. I started taking herbal supplements and I don't get them at all anymore!

I know exactly what you mean. When I get them I can't even see straight. If feels as if my head and neck are gonna blow right off. Fortunately there is medication out there for us to take to kill them.
