First, ck the dipstick...is the oil new ??? Sometimes, they will change the oil and not drive it if it is using oil...Ck end of dipstick for evidence of coolant beads clinging on, this may indicate a blown head gasket, or cracked head, both expensive repairs... Ck tires for unusual wear patterns which may be a sign of alignment issues...Start engine, look for initial puff of oil, this may indicate bad guide seals, also costly to repair...Put it into drive, while holding the brake, then put it into reverse, and listen for a clunk , this indicates driveline issues... Look for pedal cover wear, make sure the amount of wear jives with the odometer...Pull trans dipstick and ck color of fluid, should be red...if brown or black, that means it is burnt, that may indicate a trans problem... The rest is mostly common sense, I think... Good Luck, hope it works out for you...

Do you really think a 17 year old van has anything left to maintain? Repair after Repair is going to be what you do before driving out of town. Expecting to get back home at the end of the day? Use van for work contractor? lease it deductable expence for work only? Please buy newer or brand new that way you are not fixing everything the other person did not tell you about. Besides you won't get paid if you can't get to work.

look at the over all condition of it,,this will help you tell a lot about the vehicle,,and how it has been cared for,,also look at the under neath of the vehicle,,check for leaks,,also look for signs that it might have been in an accident,,and look really good at the engine area,,and make sure it has all its fluids up to level,,and make sure everything it has works on it,,if all this checks good,,it pretty obvious that ever who had it took pretty good care of it,,als o if its really clean,,and not worn out looking,,it may be OK,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

Does it have a Chevy logo on it? If so, then it is junk. Seriously though, is this a Chevy minivan? If so, it probably has horrendous crash ratings. I wouldn't want to transport friends or families in that thing.
