I wake at the alarm call, sprint down to shower, dress and prepare;
3 eggs, fried, firm yolks, crispy edges to the whites
3 rashers lean bacon.
2 tomatoes.
1/2 pint full cream coffee.
Then,
my creaking arteries wake me, I grumble down to a cold wash. dress anyhow and suffer porridge and some almost fresh fruit.
I am no longer a good morning person.
Love, Rose P.

Oatmeal - it sticks to your ribs + it's good for your heart.

Either cinnamon and nutmeg pancakes, an omelette (every once in a while), or a nice bagel with a thin layer of cream cheese.

3 eggs per day is too much! That's more cholesterol in a day than you should have. (Roughly 267% of the cholesterol you should intake a day! Then you add the bacon...)

My favorite breakfast is matzah brei. (rhymes with fry)

I use 2 or 3 eggs per 1 oz matzah, and about 1/2 tsp of real vanilla and LOTS of butter. (The recipe below suggests using meat. A good Jew would NEVER use meat with butter.) I saute the matzah in the butter, then add beaten eggs with vanilla. Stir to keep the matzah pieces separate.

Serve HOT with a little maple syrup, honey or granulated sugar on top. A big glass of COLD milk with Fox's U-Bet chocolate syrup is a great beverage with your brei.

About two three times a week you can eat one egg. Make an omellette. Beat the egg. Add chopped tomato, chopped jalapeno and chopped cilantro and cook in 1 tsp of oil in a non stick frying pan. You can also add chopped onions, either green or white. Since I like it hot, I let the torn pieces of red chili brown in frying pan before I add the egg. Eat the omellette with whole grain bread. If you like protein, you can eat a turkey sandwich. I love the new spicy mayonnaise. Cereal makes me very hungry.

I like having these with pot of coffee, some sausages with two eggs.

Pumpkin Pancakes:
1 cup buttermilk pancake mix
1 cup cold water
1/3 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
Nonstick vegetable cooking spray
Butter, room temperature

Pancake Preparation:
In a medium bowl, whisk pancake mix, water, pumpkin, cinnamon, and ginger until just blended (do not over mix; mixture should be lumpy).

Spray a heavy griddle with nonstick spray and heat griddle over medium heat. Spoon 2 tablespoons of batter onto griddle to form each pancake. Cook for 2 minutes or until bubbles appear, then turn pancakes over and cook for 2 minutes longer. Transfer pancakes to plates. Top with butter and serve with warm syrup.
