Well she obviously has enough money to overeat and be a fan of NASCAR, so that implies she has a television. I assume she has a computer, and a home with utilites, even if she has to get someone else to pay for them.
My sympathies are rather limited, I am afraid. There are far too many truly needy people out there for her to show up on my radar.

She didn't mention why she had been out of a job for so long. Was it by choice? I hope she finds a job and helps her family, but there's parts of the story missing to determine if we should feel sorry for her or not.
