No he did not steal the name, you can still name your baby that name, especially if you like it. You gave him a name that he and his wife both fell in love with for their precious new baby you can be happy about that.

Honey he didn't steal the name you don't have a child. And besides I don't care how unique you think a name is someone out there has the same name my name is Shalise and I didn't know anyone with that name til middle school now I know Shelis, Shelice, Shalice, Shelese and all other spellings. That happened to my mother. She was pregnant and told someone the name NaTasha in 1972 and the girl she told was pregnant and had her baby first so she names my sister LaTochia (la tasha). It happens.

Well yes and no... you told it to him and gave him the idea... and you can't really steal a name... In the future if you come up with some totally unique name for a child I would keep it to myself...

Yeah, it sorta seems like he should have asked if you cared if he took the name you liked....
I've never named any other than my own children, but I have had people who like my kids' names so much use them when they had another child after me.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I was honored.

I chose the name for one of my cousins. She told me earlier this year that she didn't like her name. I told her she could change it once she turns 18. :)
