What color is it? What kind of color did you use in the first place? What color do you want to go too? Contact me if you wish :o) This is going to be easy if your using semi-permanent and easier if it's permanent...put it on the roots and run it through the rest of your hair in the last five minutes. But keep it off the rest of your hair until then, if it's a permanent color,... to prevent build-up.
Good luck...And do it every 4-8 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows out and if your using color safe shampoo. (the fadege factor.)

Keeping your colour can be tricky, but it's not impossible.

You need a colorist's brush - flat, with long bristles in a thin row. Mix the dye. Brush this over your roots, only your roots. Re-part your hair and re-apply to the showing roots until your whole head is covered. Save about a quarter of the original dye in the bottle to use later. Wait the amount of time shown on the box - also, keep an eye on the mirror. Use the remaining hair dye to re-cover roots, but this time comb them out through your hair until all hair his covered.
Your remaining, undyed hair will not be completely covered like your roots; this is okay. After all, it's already been dyed. If the dye sat on this hair for twenty minutes it would fry the hair. Five minutes is long enough to blend the roots to your already dyed hair.
Rinse and wash as usual. Repeat every 4 - 8 weeks, as you see is required. Good luck.

You should be okay every 4-6 weeks coloring it. Especially if you are dying your hair and not lifting color with peroxide. That is the harmful agent. Use a cream rinse that you can leave on your hair (or put a plastic bag on the hair and let it sit for awhile). That should help you if your hair dries out from the coloring process.

If you are using a permanent color, you should apply the color on the outgrowth every 4-6 weeks. Try not to pull it through the ends. If it's a temporary color, it won't be as damaging to pull the color through the ends.

Check out this website, if you can't get into it, you will probably have to register, but it is worth reading.

I would go to a public supply like sallys or until supply and get some stains for in between coloring so you dont do more damamge than you have to.Or you can get your color there and use 10 volume for deposite so its less damaging. You never know what volume the regular store colors are they could be 20 volume wich is fine but the less you do the better

It might be a pain to deal with, but I would follow the instructions if I were you. From a person who has had her hair pretty much every color of the rainbow (cept blue or green) and has extremely over processed hair (not following instructions), take it from me - you don't want hair that is in the condition that mine is in. I just colored it black (again) yesterday, and it seems in okay condition.
Don't overdo it! :)

I would go to a salon to get my hair professionally colored or to just ask questions about coloring. There's info about hair coloring in magazines too. Just make sure you always mosturize your hair with oil so it won't break off.

you can re-dye by now, but make sure you use the conditioners providied to make sure your hair maintains a healthy moisture balance and wont split, dry out, break off, etc.
