Good for you. Get the high tech clubs which will give you more strength. I'm confused with folding right elbow v.s. flying elbow as well. Used to be taught to fold elbow and swing with left elbow passing just through my belt. Yet again the new school taught not to care about this, just focus on the swing path; i.e. inside out on down swing.
I found that strength comes from shoulder turn and left arm, whereas direction generally comes from right hand. If you swing path is correct;i.e., inside out, parallel and outside in, both of your hands should accelerate through the ball at impact which will promote both distance and control.
For more distance, shoulder turn is the most important. The more you turn, and the more torque you creat between shoulder and your hips the more power you will get releasing the upper part of the body. The wrist snap at impact also add more distance to your drive.
However, the older you get, the more difficult it is to generate all the above, so get a more flex shaft and higher tech equipment, which will add to your swing speed in compensation to your body power, which will be more and more difficult to generate the torque as you get older.

loss of length can come from many places. age of clubs, age of u, and just not swinging as hard as u were. what u mentioned may do alittle but i would rather be in the fairway and have a chance then to be 300 yards but in the rough and not have a shot. your back swing may becoming shorter than it used to be. how old is your driver because drivers do lose their distance after a while and some people say they lose it in a few years but i think its maybe 5 years and older is when that happens. just try different things and see what works but remember the fairway is safe. have fun and good luck.

it would be impossible to tell without seeing your swing. go for the consistency and just club up. its a lot better to play from the fairway than the rough. corey pavin has had a long career on the pga and he is one of the shortest hitters on tour. he makes up for it by being consistent and having the ability to do diferent shots wih the same club.

How old are you?? As a person gets older, they lose some flexibility. My father used to hit the ball a mile, but he's in his 50's now, and can't hit it near as far. He's is much straighter now, and is far more consistant tee to green.

Probably, but being consistent is way better than hitting it long. It's Tiger vs. John Daly.
