I was in a car wreck 11 months ago and I just keep getting worse from that. My dr didn't tell me what to expect as far as discomfort.

The weakening you are descibing along with lack of balance is a very serious symtom. As soon as you can, get a referral to a neurosurgeon. An MRI needs to be done. Do not put this off... the symptoms you describe could be very serious and if left untreated could result in losing function permanently in your legs.
Not trying to scare you, but please understand that whats going on could be very serious. And please do not allow any more chiropractic manipulations being done until an MRI is done.

It's a major league pain. It will take time for the pain to go away. It should gradually get better. Ibuprofen helps me to beat the band. 600 mg isn't too much. The best thing that I ever did for my back was to retire. The lack of stress over work helped more than most any other thing. Haven't had much problem since then. (There is a direct connection between the head and back.) Exercise will help prevent future problems once you are able to do so.

You can expect lots of PT if you want to recover without surgery. If you are overweight, they will tell you to diet. You can also try a chiropractor and/or massage. If the disk is not yet ruptured you may be able to repair your back without surgery.

I have four of them. With medication, I have a few problems. With one bad disc, I would be surprised if physical therapy doesn't go a long way. Discs can be replaced or even fused.
