Yes, twin is much better. You should only get a toddler bed if it is from a convertible crib or if you have limited space.

a toddler bed is what it says a bed for toddlers who are too big for a baby bed yet too little for a twin. A toddler bed uses the same size mattress as a baby bed does. A twin bed is a larger version of a toddler bed it is like 3 times the size. A twin bed is half the size of a full size bed. Yes a twin bed can be used until they are alot older, unless you have a little boy that turns into a 6ft 2 in man and is hanging off at every corner. lol

We had a crib that converted into a toddler bed, same mattress, we basically took off the front. A toddler bed uses the same size mattress. If you want to get an entirely new bed, just go with the twin. They can use that til they go to college.

A toddler bed you can move the crib mattress to the toddler bed. They are the same size. They are pretty cheap too.
You of course can skip it and go to a twin bed. You may want to get rails for it.

A toddler bed has side rails, for those who don't sleep in one position. The mattress can then be put into a regular twin bed frame when they get older and are ready to be a little less all over the place.

A toddler bed is much smaller then a twin. You can pick up a frame to throw your crib mattress in for around $50. Do not forget your child will soon hit the bed wetting stage, and it's much easier to clean it off a plastic matress then a normal one!
If you have a crib, spring for the toddler frame. I plan to keep my daughter in her toddler bed until she A- completely outgrows and/or B-No longer wets the bed.

You are right - however, toddler beds are smaller, and lower to the ground, plus they usually have a frame that partially surrounds them, which helps reduce the chances of falling out during sleep. Toddler beds are nice if you have the money, and will last maybe 2 years...but to me, you can just buy a twin mattress, start it on the floor, and buy one of those webbed bed rails if necessary. Cheaper!

Toddler beds typically use the mattress from a crib and are low to the floor. There is a lot less distance to the floor, making getting in easier and making falling out a lot less scary. You could just put a twin mattress on the floor if you wanted to save the money.

The sizes are different. The toddler bed is closer to the ground so if they fell out it wouldn't hurt but If you get a twin bed just get one of those side rails and it will be just fine. hope that helped Little.

Toddler beds fits crib mattresses. Twin beds are the regular size of a mattress.
We went straight to a twin bed with my son after he moved out of his crib. I hated to waste the money on a toddler bed and then have to transition him again into ANOTHER new bed when he outgrew it. THANK GOD we did this....he's now 50 pounds and 3 years old, and waaaay above my waist. :)

A toddler bed is the same size as your crib mattress. I liked having one to get my child ready for the next step and you can find them pretty cheap. Plus you already have the mattress. With the twin it means new mattress(better be done potty training), and new bed.
