Armageddon is the Anglicization of Har Megiddon (the valley of Meggido")
Armageddon is the Anglicization of the Hebrew words Har Megido (×ר ×××××), meaning "Hill of Megiddo."
The referred site (Revelation 16:16) is a valley plain today called Megiddo, and (according to The History Channel) it is distinguished by the fact that more military battles have occurred there than at any other place on earth.
So, "Armageddon" has already "happened" -- and it is still "happening." It's been around for a very long time, and will likely outlast our mortal bodies.
It is as asinine to suggest that a person needs protection from Armageddon as it is to say that a person needs protection from the Grand Canyon or from the lot on which your residence is constructed: it's just a place.
From Wikipedia:
The only mention of the word Armageddon in the Bible appears in Revelation 16:16: "And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon" (KJV). The Bible includes many passages that refer to the concept of Armageddon, however.
But this specific Bible prophecy reference is ambiguous whether any event actually takes place here, or whether the gathering of armies is only to be seen as a sign.
Also, who says you're gonna be around until 2012?
Consider James 4: 13-17:
"Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."

First of all, no one knows for sure when Jesus will return or when Armageddon really will happen. What you are talking about is the Mayan Prophecy, which has nothing to do with Christianity.
In relation to 2012 and if it were to come true, becuase it is when animals and technology rise up against humans, I would recommend eliminating your dependence on technology and staying away from animals.

Where did you get the information? From the Mayan Calendar? or the Hopi? If so, read again and really see what they say. Does it say destruction or beginning of a new world? Even Jesus said in his warnings. "Watch out that you are not deceived, many will come in MY NAME, and say that I AM THE CHRIST and that THE TIME IS NEAR." Do not Follow them."
From the very start, church grew up like mushrooms everywhere carrying the name of Jesus saying he is the Christ and one of their platforms is to "REPENT! the END IS NEAR!" Why did we follow? Can you not see how great is Satan to have deceived the world? The "ANTI-CHRIST" campaign is surely a deception if that is the case because they will call the one who will expose their true colors as the anti-christ but in fact he will carry the truth about Jesus' failure to save the Jews from their sins and to carry with him the name of God which until now the world is still debating about God's true name. Instead, we call Jesus as God, not only Son now and that is blasphemy. Do you know What is the meaning of LUCIFER? In Isaiah 14. it means "Morning Star" and Rev 22:16 Jesus said " I am the bright Morning Star" so why are we mislead to think that he is an angel or the king of Babylon? See www.thename.ph

No I don't know that, but on the other hand, you don't either.
I suspect I will be sighing and shaking my head at you as the year rolls over to 2013 and nothing has happened, watch you squirm and clutch at feeble explanations that you misinterpreted the scripture, walk pityingly away as you desperately re-calibrate you calculations and set a new date.....which will also be wrong.......
Like all the others before you.
Please, please try and get a life, stop living in a fantasy world. Life is here and now, the bible is fiction and god is an imaginary friend leftover from your childhood.

What is there to protect? If you are a believer you will go to where your god wants you if not you'll go to the ground. Physical life on earth ends for everyone whether you believe or not. Whether it ends in 2006, 2012, or 2080 whats the difference?

I plan to do nothing. I'm just gonna go with the flow. I don't feel like many will survive anyway. As you can tell, I have a defeatist attitude about the whole thing. I don't think I can do anything to help my situation or the situation of others.

well in christianity, every man will have to hear the word of god before the end times can begin. there are lots of things still to come before anything like that will go down. as many signs as there are now that might foreshadow what is said in revelation, there are many more to go.
and also, the rapture is a huge misconception b/c NOWHERE in the bible does it mention the word rapture.

Don't need to.
This world is not my home.
I'm just passin' through.
My treasures are laid up in heaven.
When my work for my Lord is done here. I'm movin' on.
And looking forward to it.
Do you want to protect yourself from Armageddon? I know how you can do it!
Stay away from Mount Meggido. That's where it'll happen.
