There's a formula, isn't there? Goes by body weight, and takes the blood alcohol levels into account. I just wonder what it is. Does anybody know?

Rule of thumb. Normal 3.2 beer-100Lbs-1 hour plus 20 minutes

Example: Man 250lbs-1 beer per hour (Drink for 2 hours) = 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Why? You drink it. It absorbs into the bloodstream, takes effect, wears off.

Simple: If you sit and drink one beer, wait 1 1/2 hours from completion then you should be fine.
Baring extras like medication and shots!

It varies, however the rule of thumb is 1 drink (beer, wine or liqor) takes 1 hour to be metabolized.
The reason behind it is that the main enzyme that metabolizes alcohol, the liver ADH or Alcohol Dehydrogenase, works at that pace only. You can't make the enzyme work any faster.
Be advised that several factors may contribute to being under the influence even after 1 hour/1 drink, namely sex and weight, full stomach or not, and your own genetical makeup. People that flush easily after a drink or two, have the "slow" kind of ADH and can be under the influence even after 1 drink/1hour. These people are also at increased risk of alcohol related cancers.
ADH metabolizes alcohol (ethanol) into acetaldehyde. This last substance is responsible for the flushig, nausea, dizziness, headaches and hangovers! Another enzyme, called ALDH, then metabolizes acetaldehyde into acetate, a less toxic substance.
Sorry, got carried away and forgot the most important thing: NEVER DRIVE AFTER DRINKING EVEN AFTER 1 DRINK. The cells in your brain and cerebellum responsible for coordination and reaction time are very sensitive to alcohol. And, even after 1 drink, these and other areas of your brain get DEPRESSED (through interactions at the GABA- A receptors in the ventral tegmental area and mesolimbic system).
Getting behind the wheel after drinking (even 1 beer) is the most irresponsible thing a person can do. Think about your own survival, think about your family and loved ones, think about all the pain a tragedy can cause. NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE. Enjoy your beer but responsibly.

There is not any formula. In general one alcoholic drink can affect your driving the following hour after driking it. Any way your blood alcohol content depends on several factors: body weight, how much alcohol you drunk, the amount of food you ate the length of time you have been drinking, the speed at which your body processes alcohol. The worst thing is that there is no quick way to sober up or to get the alcohol out of your body. If you are planning drinking and going out, please take a cab!!! it could be cheaper!!

hey folks! He didn't say he was going to drink and drive! He just asked a question! The formulas unfortunately are not exact, there is that per lb formula, but there are also other factors, women tend to have higher alcohol levels no matter body weight.. body fat vs muscle per Lb are also a factor.

You should not be over the legal limit by having one beer. However I do know that is someone is arrested for public Intox, they will not be release for at least 6 hours. But to be on the safe side, if you are going to drink, always have a plan in place for someone else to drive or to pick you up. Be safe,,

It depends on your weight and if you are a person who has drank before. But usually the rule of thumb is 1 drink per hour.
And it doesn't hurt to have a glass of water after each drink either, to keep you hydrated.

it depends on various elements :
-the alcohol volume of the beer and the size of the beer
-your body mass, blood volume and gender
-your ethnicity (aldehyde deshydrogenase is an enzyme that metabolises ethanol and that is less efficient in asian populations, for example)

For the average person, one hour per beer. Less for heavies, more for petites.

Be conservative in your decision making. If in doubt, hang out and drink water and eat chips for an extra hour.

If you are a pious religous person you would never drink and I am guessing that since you are asking this queston you plan on getting drunk. Here is what I recomend, get drunk, sit in your car, lock the doors, roll up the windows, recline back, and sleep for 3.5 hours and your mind should be stable again. Also, PLEASE STOP DRINKING ITS A WASTE OF MONEY AND BIG CORPARATIONS MAKE MONEY OFF OF YOU! Buy food instead or something pal.
