The answer is: you can not stop fleas from biting you.
The problem is a simple one, the fleas are hard wired on instinct. They see a warm object (you, your dog) and they jump toward the source of heat. If they land on you or your dog, they bite, another hard wired response. They need the protien in your (or your dog's) blood to reproduce. Simple, and elegant, as a form of reproduction. Can you stop them from biting you (or your dog)? No, it as simple as that.
Now for what you can do to reduce the liklhood they will bite YOU as opposed to some other warm object like your dog... Be somewhere else...
Seriously, there are things out there to catch fleas, a small light bulb over a sticky paper. The fleas jump toward the warmth and land on the sticky paper and get caught. That covers the live fleas looking for a new home. Now, for the eggs... you need a flea powder or spray of some kind to spray or cover the area where there may be eggs. A good exterminator can help you here as you need to approach the problem from two directions, the live fleas looking for your blood and the eggs they laid after they got your blood. You need something to catch the live oones, and something to kill the eggs when they hatch and start looking for you (or yoru dog).
Powders are good since they are unobtrusive in a carpet and will kill the fleas after they hatch out from the eggs, but pose a problem to anything which contacts the carpet, like toddlers, or people who sit or lie down on the carpet. The same goes for various sprays, since when they dry are the same as the powders.
The only solution is the twofold attack, get the live ones in a trap and kill off the hatchlings, and the obvious, avoid places where fleas live (which is almost impossible, by the way).
Did you know the fleas can jump hundreds of times the length of their tiny bodies? That is how they get on you, since they can jump several FEET! Talk about a "long jump!" I wish I could do an equivalent long jump in the Olympics! I would have the gold medal sewed up in a single jump...

Wear pantyhose head to toe.
Failing that, you need to get rid of the fleas. No fleas, no bites.

I feel sorry for all the answers that wont work, so I will suggest you fumigate your house or get an exterminator to do it. You will need to be out of it for 24 hours at least.
