My friend co-sleeps with her 22 month old with her husband. They have sex in the bed with their son asleep. Is this creepy? If not, how long can it go on? I know for a fact this kid is not a sound sleeper.

I'm only asking because whenever I give my opinion she says "you don't know, you don't have kids". So I was just curious.

This has happened all through history and even today, in situations where everyone is crowded into one room, it happens regularly. Everyone looks the other way. If the child is sleeping, what's the big deal?

Parents who co-sleep with their kids are going to have a very hard time getting the kids out of the parents' bed and into the kids own beds in their own bedrooms. It's not a normal activity and the parents deserve some time for themselves at night where no children are involved.

I wouldn't do that with my son in the room, but I can't judge some one who does. Just think about it...that child is almost two years old! He/she knows what is going on...I mean the child should be talking already. To each is his own I guess. I've never co-slept with my son. By the time he is too big for a crib I'll put him in a twin bed. I would think when he does get old enough when they want him/her to sleep in a bed he will have attachment issues.

Tough question to answer without implication of a fear, and judgment based on what sex is depending on the culture you may come from.
In Latin Europe it is not called "having" sex .
it is called making love. or *******, but never like "having" as in almost consuming a substance, rather then the experience beyond the act.
So i guess "having sex in front of your baby " sounds creepy because it is put in a creepy way if we don't realize the object part of having sex rather then the subject part of it.
I tend to be the devils advocate because with no judgments, we learn more about our own nature through others.
In europe i heard doctors say in the past that when your baby is small and sharing your bed, it could be a very strong feeling of love, that the baby will experience while his parents will gently, kiss and caress each others.
Sure it doesn't mean **** like nasty adult porn, and shake the baby around the mattress.
My Parents told me they did it until i was one year old.
I have no recollection, i did not become a pervert, i have a very normal relationship with my parents, and we love each other very much.
they are both very appreciated as sweet decent human beings.
No, it did not shock me when they sweetly said that because they had such a small room and no money, they did the best they could not to grow apart.
I am glad i was cool about it as an infant.

ocreepy and not right. Co-sleeping is for parents that dont want to deal with crying or bad behavior at bed time. Having sex with a child in the bed in NOT right. 2 year olds pick up everything!!! Even if you think they are sleeping!

To co-sleep is one thing, but to have sex with their child in the same bed is not okay period. Just because you don't have kids does not mean anything. It is totally creepy because the child should not be in the same room when they are having sex.

Yeah, i feel that is definitely wrong!! When my kids were little they always slept in their own bed! After 3 months old, they were in a crib! If you start that, it's really hard to stop! And having sex with your kid in the bed, is like having a "family" shower!! That is just morally wrong!! The kid is almost 2! Definitely too old to be sleeping with his mother!! He might be the next Norman Bates!! LOL....

There is no way that I would have sex in a bed that my child was in. I personally think that is not acceptable. My kids have both slept in the same bed with me, but that was SLEEPING or other acceptable activities like watching TV or reading together, or playing.

It bothers me that these people think it is OK.

I have NEVER had sex in bed when my son is there... EWWW!!! I'm sorry... Ok I always either put him in another room or go to the other room... and he's only 3 months now... No your friend is crazy. He's almost two, how is she going to feel when he talks to someone about what he saw the night before

You don't have to have kids to know that isn't right. 22 month old should have his own toddler bed. Sex in bed with a child is beyond the limit and exposing him to something he has no right to see. If she feels it won't harm his development, then she is the one who should take up some parenting skills and child Psychology.

No excuse to not have toddler's own bed. If I knew my mom did that with me, I would be majorly creeped out and pi.s.sed.
