That is a great mixture of flowers. They all have stems that take in a great deal of water(like tubes) and trimming the ends a little bit will help keep the ends open. You can buy at a florist or at a grocery store flower area a mixture that will extend the life of your cut flowers. They have very small packets that you can get for a minimum cost. Also another mixture to try is a little 7up with the water- (2 tbls. to 3 cups water) also extends the life of your arrangement. Also, birds love sunflower seed and if you wanted to you can put the sunflowers outside for the birds they would love it. Good luck and enjoy!

Its best to flush the water on the second day and change the water on the third day, at that time you can clip the stems (repeat this cycle). Just sit the whole vase in the sink or tub, hold the flowers (place your fingers in them as you would a "hair-do") and tilt the vase sideways to pour out the old water and refill under the faucet.

Many say re-cut and replace the water daily, but this is a lot of work and you'll have 4" long stems before you know it!

Flowers often benefit from the new water being tepid, not cold. This helps the flowers take up fresh water.

Sugar or Sprite works, but too much promotes bacteria, a touch of bleach along with it works but too much can kill the flowers.

Its ideal if you use a prepared pre-mixed preservative/food available from florists and craft stores. It has the right amount of food and bactericides to keep the water clear. If this is used, replacing the water on the third day would be fine. At this time clean out the vase too. If you wouldn't drink out of it, the flowers won't like it either.

Enjoy!

You waited too long to take preventive action to extend the life of these flowers. For any future flowers you receive here is what you should do.Use the floral "food" package the florist provides, You can probably get 2 days out of 1 pkg. Change the water DAILY and trim the stems, at an angle, daily.Remove any flowers that have expired immediately. As the bouquet gets smaller, break it up. Separate it into smaller bunches and spread them around your house, You will probably get more than a week out of some of them still looking fresh. Oh yea, pick up additional packets of Floralife at the grocery store.

Use 1/2 sprite and 1/2 water normal temp. It may be too late for this. I think you've waited too long to change out the water, unless this posting is old. Today is Monday here in US.
Change out this sprite mixture every 2 days. It's good you trimmed the stems. Do that each time also and trim at an angle.

In addition to making sure they have plenty of water you'll want to take 2 additional steps to ensure longevity.
First, trim an leaves below you the waterline. There shouldn't be any submerged leaves as it can cause decay and mold.
Second, instead of adding straight sugar for nutrition, use sprite or 7up. The soda adds sugar but it also adds a bit of acid which keeps the mold down that is common with sugar.
