"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

I agree, we should send all those Irish-Americans back to Ireland,
they dont assimilate, they insist on celebrating foreign holidays here. I weary of all the Irish flags on St. Patrics day and they take
good police jobs from honest americans. GOOD GRIEF

its the same everywhere........they want "in" to your country then they dont want to embrace the country and its values once they get "in", We've got Muslims at the moment in Australia that are threatening protests because the prime minster has requested that they learn english (at the tax payers expense)......only answer is to close all borders to immigration and not let anyone in....shame though chinese, thai and japanese have made an incredible contribution to Oz but middle eastern immigrants have turned australia off immigration completely now.

I don't care what they call themselves, just so long as they come into this country legally.

What does it matter? Does everyone come up to you and "identify" themselves with the labels? Maybe they consider themselves true americans.

Like I said, as long as they go through the proper channels and do it legally, they can call themselves Martians for all I care.
