I would take a crate that is something between:
30"D x 24"H x 21"W and 48"D x 35"H x 30"W
If you buy one from Petsmart and don't think it's the good size after trying it, they will always take it back.

Any dog cage should accomodate a dog when it is full grown - the cage must allow for the dog to stand, turn around and lie down comfortably -
Now if you are considering purchasing a cage for a puppy, rather then purchasing several crates to accomodate the different sizes as the puppy grows, you purchase the crate that will accomodate the dog when he is fully grown and at the pet store where you purchase the crate, they can sell you crate divider, so you can section the crate into two different sections of any size, this way you can expand the part of the crate that the dog has access to as he grows and then when he is fully grown, you can store that partition away for a rainly day or sell it to someone else or keep if on case you ever train a new puppy again.
You also want a crate that is collapsable, so that it is portable and you want a crate with a pull out tray so it is easy to clean and a metal tray that has open bars all the way around - this allows the dog to have the maximum amount of air circulating around them.
Remember dogs need to be trained to use a crate, you can't just purchase a crate and put a puppy in the crate - he needs to be trained to go in and to stay in his crate and both a puppy and a dog requires chew toys, puzzle toys, interactive toys or a good yummy stuffed maybe even frozen Kong so that they have something to do if they are going to be in a crate for several hours
No puppy should be alone in a crate for longer then he can hold his bladder - check with you vet for bladder times - these times differ for dog breeds and dog ages.

Do you know how big the parents were? All the people keep saying they get big, but if you got a standard sized boxer, it should only get up to 25 inches tall (that's the max standard for a male), so a 30 in high crate is perfectly big. Try to find out how tall the parents were, compare it to what sex you purchased, then go out and find your crate. You can always buy a large crate that has a divider in it so you can gradually give the puppy more room as it grows.

Hi, as a rule of thumb a cage or kennel, should be just big enough for the dog to be able to stand comfortably and be able to turn completely around and lie back down again. A kennel/cage is to be the dog's den, it's very own space so to speak.. so you want the dog to feel safe and secure and comfortable in it.. too big and it creates anxieties.. too small and it creates more anxieties.. so the right size is important, follow the rule of thumb that I mentionned and you should be ok. *s*.. Good Luck.

I have 8 boxers and only one fits in a 30 in crate!! the rest have 42 inch crates. Key is crate cannot be too large or they will sleep in one part and relieve themselves in the other!! large enough to sit stand lie down and turn around in.

If you are refering to a crate to keep him confined when you are not home, or at night, get the Extra Large Veri Kennel. They need someplace to be able to move around and a boxer is going to grow quickly.

My family and I got a boxer pup, well she was about 8 months old, last summer. Let me say they get BIG when you think they are done growing. go to a pet store and get one big enough for a lab that should do just fine. Good luck and have fun with your new ball of energy!

depends on age but big enough to lay down and turn around is the rule of thumb. Any bigger then that and if there not house broke they can make a mess on one end and lay down on the other and that doesn't cheat them to hold it until you take them out.

Your dog needs to have room to stand, sit, lie down...comfortably.
Try an extra large.
