I wish you could tell me.....I'm in your boat right now. Perhaps we need to schedule time just for us, without the kids or husband. In fact, I'm going to run a bubble bath right now. Thanks.

Well, aren't you doing lots of those things for you? Aren't you a wife because you "choose" to be, same thing with Mother and student? Employee may be "required".
Stop trying to do everything - set a time each day - 1 hour, get a babysitter, don't take a class, and just use it yourself for self-improvment, a long bath, reading a book - whatever. You imposed the "everyone needs me right now" - just unimpose it. I tell my kids, Mommy needs Mommy time right now - and sometimes it's an hour that I lock myself in my library (my kids are 5 and 8) and read a book.

I completely understand. I get pulled so many ways I can't do anything right. The harder I try to catch up the more frustrated I become. Hubby and daughters answer is get rid of your animals mom and you'll have time to make nice meals and keep a tidy house. Neither of them have any desire to help me achieve what I want to achieve. I hope that you can get someone in your family to help you out once in awhile so it isn't so terribly overwhelming.

the older you get, the level of responsibilities rise and spare time drops. yes. i stress sometimes too. just try to relax. i can tell you are a really hard working mother. as for what i think, you have too many commitments. like for some mothers, they are only a housekeeper. my mother is the same as you, except without the student part. you feel overwhelmed, from the lack of free time and socialization.

My research advisor in graduate school was a brilliant man. I've always liked his summation:
"We start off resource limited, and quickly become time limited."

Learn to say "no" to the things that you can say no to.
Also, learn the difference between what is important vs what is urgent.
