I have a very hard time listening. It's mostly my Dad. He givs mr the same lectures everyday, for every little thing. It annoys me and makes discourages me to try. If I do something good my Dad finds a way to make in "unacceptable'' It's so hard to please him. When he yells at me and tells me not to say anything its hard, because if someone was yelling at me I would normally stand-up for myself, but I can't, and I HATE feeling defeated! H'e had my cellphone for weeks, and I need it, and I want to improve all together! Can someone please give me advice to be the best I can be for a few weeks, without feeling too Miss Good-Two-Shoes?

Well, young lady, for one thing you don't need a cell phone. You just think you do. I didn't even have a cell phone when I was in high school and that wasn't too long ago. I graduated in 1998. I think you and your dad lack communication. Maybe you should just try to sit down and have a heart to heart chat with him. Lecturing and arguing does nothing. I am sure he loves you very much and he only wants what's best for you. As a parent I understand that. I used to feel the same way you do when I was your age. I couldn't wait to grow up so I could do what I wanted. I always said I would let my kids do whatever they wanted, but now that I have kids, I understand where my parents were coming from. One day, if you ever have children you will understand it too. Just try to be good and talk things out with your dad.

I disagree with the last guy don't be miss good-two-shoes. Don't act good just to impress your dad or anyone else for that matter. Think logically about what it is they are asking you to do. If something doesn't make sense ask questions about it. Act calm, no wait, "be calm." Try and be more logical about what is going on in your surroundings and try and understand where people, like your dad are coming from. Take time and come up with good wording of your questions. I suggest write down your questions and figure out the best way to ask your dad what it is he wants.
Take your time and do it right. Hope I'm at least a little helpful.

You say you have a hard time listening and then you say that it's hard to please your dad...so First, I think you should ask your dad to sit down and talk about the miscommunications you're having.
Ask him specifically and exactly what he expects from you. Then you have an idea what he expects and what will tick him off. Then tell him what you think is a reasonable expectation and what you think is just way too much.
See if you can agree on a set of ideals. Then you work on those things. Like, some things oh, take drugs: absolute NO-NO's. But maybe talking with your friends on your cell if you have all homework/chores done: cool.
If you work together and have some idea where he's coming from-it makes your life easier! Good luck!

If anything you do is wrong, than maybe HE is the one with the problem. So maybe all you CAN do is what is called " duck and cover" . Do what he asks,as best as you can. Do what you are supposed to do in school-work,and FIND OTHER PLACES TO BE.Join the Girl-scouts,or the Church Choir, or any and all after-school activity that is sean as being character building. Anything that GOOD KIDS DO. Cross Country Team. The more GOOD THINGS YOU GET INVOLVED WITH THE MORE ADULTS YOU WILL HAVE TO GET HELP FROM.

just remember how ever u treat your parents your kids will do the same damn thing to u even worse.... so just wise up and tell yourself your parents are almost always right. this freaking cycle goes around and around but it take a very wise person to step back and see it. I don't have any kids so I am not saying this because I think i am the sh!ts. just have good values know when u are right and when to let it go cause in the big picture we are just tiny dust particles here for a tiny amount of time in this vast universe.

Just do what they say. I understand not wanting to be defeated but seriously, if you cant provide for yourself enough to move out .. then just put with them. It will go better for you during your time at home. It's not worth misbehaving cuz one day you might need your parents ... I never did after I moved out but at least my mom cant say now that I was a bad teenager. I just did what I was told and then some. Trust me, cleaning, cooking doing laundry sounds alot better than paying rent, bills having no choice but to work 2 jobs (in my case, for example) So just be a kid and let them defeat you ... for now :-)

Jesus was perfect and people like your father killed him. What is your father's level of perfection that he requires from you, where did he get it from. Does he not know that he is driving you away.
Ask that you two go to a councilor together there he may find out that he is in error. Film him and send him a copy so he can see just how stupid he really is
