It really depends on your age. For women of childbearing years, a PAP may be included. Blood may be taken to check lipids, you would be ask to fast prior. Urine may be taken also. Much depends on any complaints you may have. If the test is for something specific like employment, a vision exam may be included. Don't worry it should be a breeze.

A thorough physical will include:blood pressure check, a check of lung, heart and bowel sounds usiing a stethoscope, a brief neurological exam (things like holding your hands out straight while closing your eyes -- nothing stressful), palpation of abdomen and lymph glands for abnormalities, check of reflexes, a check of the inside of your mouth and throat, a look at your hands and feet, and a brief vision test, height & weight.

A GOOD physical will also include a baseline EKG, a discussion about psychological health, a good talk about family history, and a prescription for a complete blood workup.

Well, there's really nothing to it. Did the doctor tell you to not eat or drink a few hours before? If so, don't eat or drink. Then he (or she) will take your temperature, your weight and height, your blood pressure and pulse, listen to your heart and lungs with a stethoscope, maybe test your reflexes with a little hammer, probably take a blood sample from your arm, maybe a urine sample (pee in a cup), and probably ask you a bunch of questions about your medical history (you know, if you've had any specific diseases or conditions), and maybe your immediate family's medical history. The doctor might even put you on a treadmill to test your endurance, but I doubt it.

FYI - guys will do the cough thing (checking for hernia), and girls will probably be asked if their periods are regular and normal flow, and maybe a breast exam.

Don't worry. It'll be a piece of cake.
