I know some people who have met through on-line dating services. Some of the couples stay together and some don't. Please remember that people may not be telling you the truth about themselves when you communicate on-line. They can make up anything they want and you have no way of knowing if it is true or not. I have talked to some people who have met and dated a person they met on a dating service. Many discover later that the person they met had a lot of "issues" that needed to be resolved before they should have started dating.

You must be very careful about meeting anyone on-line - no matter what dating service you choose. Please follow these no-nonsense safety measures:

1) Meet in a public place.
2) Keep the meeting limited to two hours or less.
3) Let several people know where and when you are meeting, and give the name, address, and phone number of the person you are meeting to these friends.
4) Have a friend call you several times to check up on you. This lets the other person know that they cannot do something to harm you because there are people looking out for you.

I am not telling you that you cannot find a great person on-line (I met my special someone here on answers), but you must be very careful to protect yourself from the idiots out there.

Eharmony is a BIGGER rip off than most dating sites. It is truly for the people that wnat to get a serious serious relationship. Last time I checked, a year or two ago, it was literally 50$ a month! And everyone they tried to "match" me to lived across the country. If they are just going to introduce me to penpals, I can use yahoo. Lavalife is better, you buya certain number of credits, and every time you send a message it costs credits. But there is no time limit on using the credit. So, it's no monthly fee!

My best friend tried it and she didn't have any luck with it. She gave a description of the type of guy she was looking for and it was in a 50 mile radius-not one person contacted her. I'm not sure how they set it up, I don't think guys contact you directly. I think girls are suppose to call them if they like them. But somehow, she didn't get anyone.

I met my wife on Yahoo, and prior to that I met my previous ltr (5years) on Yahoo.

Eharmony supposedly gives you quality, but quantity is probably more effective. If you spend a lot of money to get one or two connections, you could have spent 20 dollars...email 50 guys, narrow it down to one or two you actually want to see...and narrow it down to one you want to date...it's cheaper, saves, time, and more fun.
