Santa Clara, California? Well I know a really good one nearby, in San Jose. Corner of Meridian and Hamilton, Dick's Bakery. You may have to call ahead to reserve one, but they have fantastic burnt-almond rum cakes!

Definitely *NOT* a place called "Hot Breads" on El Camino Real and Cezanne. There's a few places in Palo Alto on University Avenue that sell good cakes and pastries...but the names of them escape me...sorry!
