I have 3 partitions on my hard drive 1) has dos 2) is 8 gigs of empty space 3) has a copy of Windows 2000. What I'd like to do is boot to dos...which it does, run the setup file in the 3rd partition and tell it to install on the second partition. For some reason I can't run the setup I get a an error message but, I can run the winnt.exe file. This allows me to start the setup but never gives me the option to install windows on my second partition. If you can help please be very specific as I'm new to this environment on the PC. BTW, I've tried installing Windows on the hard drive using another pc then putting it back in the tablet...it doesn't work. The tablet won't recognize it. Thanks for any help.

Based on one response I see I might not have been clear on one point... Windows is not installed or running on my tablet. I only have the files copied from the windows 2000 cd on my third partition.

start the computer open windows explorer click on tools on the menu bar at the top/folder options/view/select show hidden files/untickbox hide protected operating system files/tick show hidden files and folders. you will see the hidden folders on your system then look for a folder in windows named options or preinstall if you have this open the folder and click on the setup.exe file windows will then reinstall itself at the instalation screen when it reboots pick repair windows leave file system as it is this will re install windows but leave your files as they are on the computer you will still need your serial number to re install you will only loose any updates that you installed

If your third partition exists beyond a certain sector boundary, it becomes unreadable by DOS due to limitations in addressing large data spaces. The third partition is readable by Win2000, because Win2000 is not limited to the legacy addressing scheme used by DOS.

The solution is put your installation files in a place that is accessible (e.g. below the certain sector boundary, on another hard drive or borrow a floppy or cd-rom or network installation).
