Where I live, you can't show liquor commercials before 10:00 PM or so. It is supposed to be to encourage drinking in moderation, at least that is what I was told. A few years ago some group, I think it was MADD, got liquor commercials banned for a couple years around here. I would say liquor is "worse" because it is higher proof, and it can sneak up on you with the right mixed drinks. Also, you are more likely to drink too much really quickly with liquor, before you are affected by it.

I believe in the US each network chooses whether it will show liquor ads or not, many non-cable channels choose not to, where as the less tight cable channels will.
In the past the liquor companies followed a self imposed ban on certain ads but that was dissolved in 96.
So far there is no actual control over liquor ads by the FCC.

I've seen some Jack Daniels commercials. Some were begging to be made parodies of on Saturday Night Live. But since none their writers picked up on the potential humor, there were no parodies. Saturday Night Live isn't funny any more.

They're out there as we speak.

They advertise liquor on tv. I've seen Smirnoff Vodka, Jose Quervo, captain morgan...where have you been?

i see all kinds of alcohol commercials on tv. there are beer ones and liquor ones. i see jack daniels ones all the time along with corona and heineken. just got to watch for them, there are all there.

i see lots of liquor ads on TV, they are on later in the night though....they dont want to advertise to children or something i guess
