Why worry about what anyone else thinks? You'll have those who'll commend you and those who will bash you if you let them. I served several years and 80% overseas. You must think about it very seriously. If you choose to enlist you must be ready to accept the fact that you may, and probably will be given your orders to cross the pond. You need to know you will be away for long periods of time, you will be placed in harms way, you will be challenged and you will tested. Just think long and hard, because if you do it for the wrong reasons or don't give 100% it is your life that is on the line.

It's not crazy at all. I come from a military family myself, uncles, sisters, myself, parents...all military. I feel a great sense of pride to know that my family has participated in what our country stands for and I know you will as well. Good luck!

No, it is not crazy. My father was in the Navy; I am proud of him for that. It takes people like you and your family to have the courage to do what most of us can't. It is your choice, if you do always know that the majority of the US will support you. God bless you and those who serve in the military.

Do what your heart says. If you feel deep down that it is your duty to serve your country in the military, then do it. If you feel you could do something else-like become a scientist/doctor and cure a disease, go for that. As long as you're not a lifeless, lumpy, drain on society.
