I don't know what about the Korean girl, but Sonya is definitely not a word in Hebrew.
Sonya is a Russian pet form of Sophia, which means wisdom in Greek.

"sonya" in hebrew does not mean wisdom. "chokmah" is wisdom in Hebrew.

The closest thing to "sonya" in Hebrew would be the word which means "hate".
