Okay, I am a biochemist. And if you are planning on being a plastic surgeon you don't need to have a major in biochemistry. Biochemistry is more for Pharmacist and Lab technitions because they need to know what drug affects certain things. I would take biochemisrty defiently but not as a major. Hope things go well!

What you do in med school will matter more than what you do before med school. Major in something you are interested in. You will specialize after med school to go into surgery so you will learn more there than from a biochem degree in undergrad. But biochem does look impressive because it is very difficult. Just make sure you get good grades. A high GPA will be pretty impressive as well, and probably more important than your major. But for the record, I think the majority of incoming med students do have a biology degree (or pre med if your college offers it).

At many schools you can do a pre-med track and then have a different major and a lot of medical schools prefer if you are more diverse. For plastic surgery I would possibly recommend something along the lines of physical anthropology because then you will be studying the physical structure of the body.

Biochemistry is definitely something that you want to take. It depends on you college, but I would do more of a physiology type track. Some colleges lump biochem and physiology together but it depends on the school. If you do a biology major rather than a pre-med, I would recommend taking biochemistry, physiology, genectics, microbio, immunology, endocrinology.

you can be a bio major with a concentration in pre-med or you could be an english major with the same concentration. It is entirly up to you. Bio major/pre-med is what I did and I found it quite statisfying and fun.

good luck.

Not a bad one, but biology would be fine too. Pre-med would probably be best
