I heard that Lactaid milk is really just regular milk with the lactaid pill properties added to it and with a higher price. So now I'm wondering if there's any difference in me just taking the lactaid pill with regular milk or is there something about the way they process the LF milk that makes it more effective?

I am lactose intolerant and have been for many years. As far as I know, Lactaid has a certain amount of lactose(milk sugar) removed from its products. Some are 70% lactose free, others are 100% lactose free. That's the one that I use. Yes, I suppose the price is higher. I really don't know the price of regular milk any more, but keep in mind that Lactaid comes with a long expiration date, like a month ahead. Regular milk doesn't last that long.

I would want to wonder how much milk you drink, and if there are others in your home who drink milk too. I think the Lactaid milk is worth it (last longer too) but if you have 2 buy 2 different kinds of milk then...maybe not. What about Soy Milk. Tried that?

If you can cut the milk out altogether and jump on the multivitamin then all the better.

IMO, Taking lactaid pills everyday does nothing good to your body. It will process the lactose instead of your body trying to digest it. LIT is not a life sentence, necessarily.

I guess you have to do what is best for you, and your lifestyle. :o)

Nope. Lactose intolerance is the lack of a specific enzym which makes it impossible to metabolize lactose. Drinking lactose free milk, or lactaid which actually has some lactose but also some of the enzym necessary to process it cannot make you lose use of an enzym that you have. However, if you do not ingest any lactose over time, you will stop producing the enzym, but this will come back gradually after exposure. It takes about 6 years of having no lactose for an otherwise non-lactose intolerant being to become intollerant, and only 3 weeks to recover from the condition.

I find that lactaid tablets do not work very well for me and I tend to get sick from the milk even after taking them. I don't know anything about Lactaid milk. I would recommend drinking Soy Milk. I find the vanilla flavored soy milk to be drinkable.

You can try buying soy milk or Rice Dream Rice Milk. Its in the condensed milk/baked goods area. It doesnt cost too much more, if not equal to a gallon of milk depending on where you live. It doesnt irritate the stomach like regular milk.

I take Lactaid, and eat anything I want. You can get a generic brand of Lactaid, much cheaper.

The only dairy I can handle is yogurt and cottage cheese. If I eat pizza, I can only have a couple slices. Anyways, why do you want to drink milk? It's kinda gross and there are better ways to get the calcium. I guess I really didn't answer your question, but whatever. Good luck.

I like the Soy milk; doesn't negatively affect me as regular milk.

I have used the cheap version of soy milk and brand names, both are fairly similar in taste, and really don't taste bad, they are a little thinner in consistency than reg. milk, but it's worth it...but I don't drink milk, only on occasion....good luck...=)
