Yes. I've been on stacks of meds over the years, but I'm pretty sure risperdol was an anti psychotic which will naturally have a sedative effect. So the anaesthetic will need to be adjusted to account for this. When you check in you will fill out a form which will include current medications. Also it will probably ask if you have had a nauseous reaction to conventional anaesthetics. I always say yes, and then I get the morphine. This is a much better way to lose consciousness.

Yes. My father used resperdol. He had to have frequent trtmts requiring general anesthesia.

Generally prior to surgery all your oral medications will be halted for 8 hours. In fact everything by mouth will be halted for the same period of time, to prevent vomiting during surgery (a freaking disaster).

That's why anesthesiologists get the big $$$$$$$. When you go in for pre-op be sure to tell them. They will tell you what to do. Good luck.
