their is an old direct t v dish on my house --- it is not connected to anything --- can i use it as a regular antenna -- if yes will it be extremely dorectional.

No, because the freq spectrum is way out of the tv band, and to use it, unless your a radio engineer, you would also have to plug in the reciever to power up it's preampilfier, and the band pass filters would block the normal TV channels. Can it be used- Yes
By a radio engineer with too much time on his hands- Yes
By Me, a decent 10y elec tech- if i could get parts- Maybe
