Should I take her to the vet? I have noticed about 6 or 8 bites. She seems better after the bath but I don't want to take any chances. Before the bath she was running around crying. I never saw the ants but she has the little red bites that look like a little blisters just like the fire ants leave on me when I get stung.

You can also give her a asprin to take away the swelling and some pain..

You can make a paste from the baking soda and put it right onto the bites. Also, call the vet and get a dosage for aspirin OR benadryl (diphenhydramine) -which will also help her sleep. But get a dose from the vet, first. When you call, be sure to have an accurate weight on your dog to get an accurate dosage. If you want to bypass the vet (not recommended), here is a link for dosing benadryl. http://www.marvistavet.com/html/benadryl.html

OHH poor baby! She should be okay. Hmm, I wonder if there is something you could use on the bites that would be safe for a pup...did you try calling your vet for advice? I wouldn't bring her in to a vet as they will charge you up the wahzoo. (Believe me, been there, etc...) As long as she can breathe ok, and seems better after the bath...you did the right thing.
Do you live in Florida? Hate those darn fire ants!

You could give her some benadryl but need to call the vet to find out the dosage. It will help with the discomfort. BUT you need to call and give your vet her weight and the vet can tell you the correct dosage. I have had that happen and liquid benadryl works

Animals can take very small doses of Benadryl...about 10mg. Oatmeal baths work miracles.
