It is as dangerous the first time as it is any other time, tampons are very bad for vaginal health, commercial tampons are the most harmful out of over twenty different options.
As tampons are absorbent they prevent the vagina cleaning itself by pushing out dirt with discharge, in absorbing that discharge it also means the vagina can get dried out that causes vaginal splitting. Tampons are pores so they give the bacteria naturally present in the vagina the perfect place to multiply that can cause infections.
Commercial tampons, such as Tampax, also contain bleach and chemicals that are not only bad for the body but they can affect vaginal pH, this in turn can cause the 'bad' bacteria to take over from the 'good' bacteria that can cause infections and contribute to TSS.
If you do use tampons over other options such as pads, or other internal options such as menstrual cups, then it is far safer to use organic tampons such as Natracare, sponge tampons such as Jade & Pearl or homemade tampons.
To insert you wait until your menstrual flow is heavy enough to provide some lubrication, after washing your hands you take the tampon out of the wrapper (if it has one) and insert the tampon into your vagina as far as your fingers will let you - if it hurts you have not put it in far enough.
You leave it in for a few hours - make sure to learn about TSS if not all the risks of tampons at least - then you remove by pulling gently on the string (if it has one - depending on what sort of tampon you use), with clean hands, then wrap the tampon up and put into a bin (don't flush down the toilet!).
You may also find it easier to masturbate before putting any internal menstrual option into your vagina, this makes sure there is enough lubrication, your vagina is lengthened and your vagina is relaxed, this allows for easier penetration. Using lubrication such as KJ jelly can help too, so can laying down propping yourself up with a pillow and looking at your vulva with a mirror to determine just where to put the tampon.

It's not dangerous. Read the instructions that comes with the tampons. It will help. Try standing with one leg on the toilet seat and one on the ground and inserting it that way. You can use a little KY jelly on the tampon if you have trouble inserting it. When the tampon is in correctly you won't feel anything but, remember to use the smallest tampon size needed and to change your tampon at least every 6 to 8 hours to avoid Toxic Shock Syndrome.

No its not dangerous but it may take a little while to get it right, Look at the directions, and make sure you don't insert the card board applicator, I did this the first time, also if you don't get it in high enough it won't be comfterable, and it's hard to get out if you didn't bleed on it yet. so try to put it high as you can, you just push the card board up, and pull out both pieces of cardboard. Good luck.

Its not dangerous. It is hard the first time. It might help you to get a mirror and look at it. Once you see where to insert it then you put it, get the nerve and do it. It might not be confortable then take it out and try it again. If you have enough flow then you won't have a problem with it sliding right in.
Good luck

the box comes with an instruction sheet. read it, it gives you the basics. you will figure out the way that is most comfortable and works best for you specifically after you use them for a while. it is not dangerous, although it may be uncomfortable at first. if you don't feel comfortable talking to your mom, your school nurse can probably answer any other concerns.

Read the instructions that come with the tampons, or talk to your mom or other adult female.
