I don't think young girls want to be like their mothers, I think the mothers are the ones who are now trying to catch up on life. seeing you daughter at the same places can mean that you are going where your kids are going. Young people wants Party and Dancing and Loud music, that not for women of age, being young is good for parents BUT not over doing it.

my sister dosent seem to follow my mom's style. maybe ur daughter isnt that confident of herself. She dosent know what she wants. Have u talked to her? on her likings? her choices? her profession ?
it really helps...she has to distinguish herself...rather than being like u all the time. She is going to live in a time that is different than yours...she has to be different..
try leaving her a little...in the sense that she becomes more independant...my sis went to a boarding school from a young age..so I think that made the difference...

I think in the perfect scenario a child will learn to take certain personality traits and characteristics from each parent. Then they will transform them into their own.
I think that each generation get a little smarter, and "better" than the one before. In fact that should be the goal of a parent. To make sure that their child gets "a little further in life" than he/she did.

My mother honestly ignores me most of the time, so I don't want to be exactly like her. The only thing she cares about is that I keep up my grades.

God I hope they don't. The whole point is to give and raise children better than we are. Mine better not follow in my footsteps I'll kill'em both. Hows that go "I brought you into this world and I can take you out"

Take it as a compliment. It means she thinks you're cool. She will eventually find her own voice. Enjoy it. By 15, she might not want to be seen with you.
