By proxy? Without having to enter American soil again as with an embassy or consulate using a lawyer or other legal means?

You cannot renounce your citizenship on American soil, you HAVE to be in a foreign country. Additionally, you must have citizenship from another country first. You are not allowed to be "stateless".

I'm pretty sure you can renounce your citizenship at an embassy or consulate if you really want to, but why the rush? Bush leaves office in 2 years...

By proxy? You want someone else to do it for you????? Just go to another country -- apply for citizenship there, and when you get that citizenship you are no longer an American. It is that easy.
