Since he, she or it is a mythical creature, I guess Satan can do whatever your imagination dictates just like any other character of fiction.

The prince of lies is free to roam this earth along with the other demons from hell. Just take a look around at all the murders and rapes and burglaries and all the evil stuff that is happening in this world. Do you honestly think it is because of God. It is because the prince of all lies is controlling those people that are doing all the evil in the world. The only way WE can stop all this is to turn our back on satan and give our life to the Lord God and His Son Jesus. With them on our side satan would sure loose. That is what satan is really worried about, people becoming followers of Christ. (notice I did not say Christians)

he roams around as a lion seeking who he may devour. But he is chained for 1000 years during the millennial reign of Christ. after that revelation 20 says:
7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Without confusing the satan with Lucifer, etc., etc., take a look at the book of Job. When God asks the satan what he has been doing, he responds that he has been "roaming the world, going back and forth in it." Basically, he is saying, "I've been doing my job." The satan is a tester, and his job is to test and try people. The book of Job wil give you a pretty clear picture of his function. The satan has NOTHING to do with the oft confused/abused/misinterpreted New Testament concept of hell.

in theological thought Satan is only prevented from going to Heaven or to holy grounds do to the touch of the divine savior. And in creation of man as images of the Divine god we are born innocent of all crimes thus unless we invite the Devil into our lives we are not able to be affected directly by him. This does not mean that he can not enter someone elses life and effect yours for that is why we humans have free will.

Satan is free to roam the world and tempt souls for now, but:
[John 12:31] Now is the time of judgment on this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out.
Footnote:
[1] Ruler of this world: Satan.

I don't think that Satan exists. In Dante's Inferno, Satan is frozen in Hell, I believe. He is a prisoner there.

First, read "Paradise Lost" by John Milton. Bottom line, Satan cannot be chained but might be thwarted. Only you can really answer your question!

He is the God of this world, and Prince of the Air. He is free to do whatever he chooses to the people who are not children of God, baptized in His name, and filled with His Spirit.
