I have a 9 month old maltipoo puppy. she decided she won't eat dry dog food anymore. now i mix the dry food with those small cans of wet food. i noticed she's gotten heavier since i've been feeding her the wet food. maybe because i've been giving her a can in the morning and also at dinner. should i only be feeding her once a day or continue with twice a day? i don't want her to have weight problems. how do i know how much she needs? someone told me puppies don't know when they're full and they will eat and eat. so as long as i put it in front of her, she'll eat it, i just don't want her to be eating too much. any suggestions?

Puppies need about 4 meals a day.

I would feed her twice a day - until she is 12 months old, then once a day. If she is putting on weight, give her smaller amounts at each meal. She will know when she is full, however some dogs don't care and will continue to eat until they are so full they throw it all back up!!

Your Poodle mix should be fed twice a day (as should all dogs) but she doesn't need the amount you are feeding her.Decrease the amount of dry you are feeding her and also cut down on the canned food. Split the amount between 2 feedings. Also decrease the amount of treats she receives. They can add calories. Feed a good qaulity food too. one that doesn't contain corn, wheat, beet pulp, soy or by products.

No MUTT/MONGREL has different requirements than any other!!!
Do **NOT** feed canned CRAP!!
Do NOT switch feeds!
ONLY feed ONCE a day! Any decent brand of DRY***ADULT*** feed is FINE! Something that small only gets about a HALF CUP ***TOTAL*** per day.

You are ***MAKING*** a FAT PICKY dog!! STOP IT!!!

I agree with the above. spit it and feed twice a day. After 1 yr of age, feed once a day.

Most vets will tell you if you call and ask. The bag of dry food- which should be puppy food will tell you according to weight how much food to give. The can food- which should also be for puppies should also tell you how much to feed her according to her weight.

Three times if possible. Two mandatory until he or she is one year's young.
Enjoy, dogs are the best.
