Because chemo can cause mouth and throat sores as well as digestive problems, (constipation, diarreha) foods that go down easy and are easy on the stomach are best. Don't worry too much about low fat. Gravy, ice cream, soups, etc. work well. I found that there were many foods that I normally eat that tasted metallic or I couldn't taste at all. Eggs, potatoes cooked any way and tomato based foods tasted like they should. I also drank a lot of gatorade and tried to do smoothies.
If your friend has already had some treatments she will have an idea of what she can eat. She may even just want a very small portion at any one time so if you are making meals ahead you can take this into consideration.
God bless you for being a wonderful friend and support.

Sorry to hear that I really hope she gets well. After chemo bad things happen such as loss of appetite and vomiting, feeling very bad, etc. I would get a multi vitamin (GNC is good), Gatorade and ask her what she likes. The idea is to be there for her and keep her electrolytes good and guard against dehydration. Of course chicken noodle soup and OJ and proteins are excellent choices. I mean if your buddy wants some french fries or chocolate it should not harm her at all unless she has other health things going on, just spoil her, she has gone through enough. Back rubs and movies are awesome healers too, make it fun.

Try alot of chilled food, like salads, cold fried chicken, samwiches, juice, tea, fruit, chicken salad, tuna salad (in water), etc... Anything with a strong smell or hot may make your friend nauseated, even the smell of coffee. Plus, you can never plan out meals because her taste for foods will change by the hour. You just have to have several different foods on hand and let her decide what she may be able to eat. Shakes come in handy when she cannot eat anything else. Keep popsicles on hand, too. Good luck!

I bought some carnation instant breakfast. I ate cherry pie filling. Towards the end I could not really taste anything but cherry pie filling. Drank Gatorade. Mashed potatoes. Yogurt. Sometimes I did not have an appetite. So, I ate or drank things that were pretty fattening so I would not lose weight.

because all the smells intertwine even as they cook dinner and scent sturdy. it truly is not any longer not straightforward to make nutrients scent sturdy. it truly is harder to make nutrients style sturdy. my associates are comprehensive chinese i trust doubt they got here from u . s . a . yet their homestead is a comprehensive pig sty. theirs crap they convey homestead from artwork throughout their the front backyard and back backyard and it truly is all damaged such issues as tables, refrigerator, washing machines,etc.. yet specially situations even as they're cooking it smells truly sturdy. yet i really doubt it tastes that sturdy. why? basically walk infront of their door step and also you may understand why theirs craps everywhere which incorporates lifeless flowers/animals decaying like fish. Im particular they don't shop at a actual food market both besides the undeniable fact that the community china city and each body in my state is acquainted with the china city isn;t very sturdy for groceries because it truly is been time-honored to carry rats and it truly is not even that tasty. that being suggested do not enable the smells fool you.

Ask your friend what sounds good and cook it for her. If she is having nausea, make sure she takes a nausea drug approx 45 minutes before trying to eat.
