When my son goes and visits his father. The father makes his 14 yr. old daughter bathe my son. I have told my ex that my son can bathe himself, but he wont let him. What should I do? Is this ok for a 14yr old to bathe a 7 yr old? I have no problem with my ex's daughter. I just think she shouldnt bathe my son when he knows how to do this.

Hmmm, I would think that at 6 or 7 he could bathe himself, if the bathroom was in a central area of the home and he could be supervised, I could see if dad was busy and the bath was away from a central area, the older child keeping watch and making sure the younger one is ok. from my experience as a single parent things are always different at dads then at moms, my ex does things very differently then I do, I have learned to just deal unfortunately it is out of our hands when they are at the other parents house. Good luck

Fathers house, Fathers say! That's like him demanding that you bathe him instead of letting him do it himself.

7 years old, well I think it is time for dad to back off and observe his bathing habits and remind the child/help the child do it correctly.

i think this largely depends on why your ex makes his daughter bathe your son. if it's for the sake of time, or cleanliness (both that of the bathroom and of the child), i don't see a huge problem with it. it seems a bit odd, but i don't really see it as a problem. i would still occasionally speak to the ex about your son needing to learn his own self care as he ages.
