Yes, it's more of a cultural thing than a matter of race. If you grow up in that environment then you very well may be a good ol boy at heart. The great football player Bo Jackson was a bit of "good ol boy".

**Can a person be black and still be considered one of the "good Ol Boys"? **
No, In the current understood usage of the term.
Yes, however is the answer in reality. Some
Negroes have lighter skin color and straighter
hair than some Caucasian. So I'm sure some are probably passing for such right now.

Wont be considered one of the "good Ol Boys" (unless you are talking about a Nawleens Jazz Band) - but that doesnt mean they wont hang out with them - thats a different story.

Good ol' boy is a slang term used, mainly positively, either to self-identify as or to refer to a male, usually Caucasian and of Northern/Western-European descent, who lives in a rural area and/or subscribes to a traditionally "rural" lifestyle. The term is generally thought to originate in the rural areas of the southern and southwestern U.S. While other terms such as redneck, hick, yokel, "Bubba", and "white trash" can be applied as well (though usually pejoratively) and are often interchanged with "good ol' boy," the "good ol' boy" is more accurately considered an idealized image of rural Americans, Canadians and Australians, as will be discussed.

The kind of people I think of when I hear the phrase, "good Ol Boys" are mealy-mouthed social bullies. I honestly have never met a black social bully. I'm sure they're out there, though. All tribes of man have ilk.

Of course, but he really HAS to be a good ol' boy. No Affirmative Action or racial quotas, there.

Why not? To say otherwise is racist. Anyone can be considered a good 'ol boy. They just need someone to consider them in such a way. Okay, I consider you a good 'ol boy.

No. If you're black and considering it, you must have bumped your damn head. But don't worry, if you go hunting with the good ol' boys you won't be coming back. Not alive at least.

He might be referred to as a "good Ol' Boy" but deep down, it's pretty obvious that he ain't a member.
