I feel like I have been had by so many vets. There has to be a way to find a decent vet that isn't intirely after my money which I don't have.
No, I'm not cheep, just on disabilty and I had my animals ever since I made a decent living. I just can't get rid of them, no one will love and take care of them as I do.

The best clinics out there are called Companion Clinics. They are clinics that are approved just like all the others, but they are aimed at people with lower incomes. I hear of people atking their dog to a vet and paying $45 to walk in the door. I used to go to two companion clinics in Portland that were $10 office visits. If you were just doing shots, you just paid for shots. They were very understanding and put me on a real easy payment plan a couple of times (My one dog had 45% coverage of ringworm, and my other had a liver problem). Hopefully you can find one in your area. Otherwise, try clinics like "Spay and Neuter Clinics" which also do vaccines and basic apointments. You will save a ton that way. These people care about animals, or they wouldn't work there. The high end vets make me wonder why they are there....?

The best way is to call around and get price ranges. Then ask at the local shelters. Explain the situation to them and see if they can suggest a vet that is trust worthy and has good prices. Our shelter gets a lot of calls like that and can steer people to some vets and away from others.

there are ALOT of vets out there that are not after your money. I am sorry you have had bad luck in the past. Call the better business bureau or ask your neighbors or friends. Call around for prices and ask to visit the clinics before hand
