How does that make any sense? A friend says their dog does the same thing.

I've had a couple of dogs who are afraid of thunder and they go somewhere they can feel enclosed, thus safer. One of mine likes to be in the basement.

I give my greyhound an all natural remedy called Bach's Flower Essences, the variety for fear is called Rescue Remedy. He gets 4 drops, there are no side effects and it calms him enough that he can cope really well. You can also get your vet to prescribe tranquilizers, but I don't like to use them as they make the dog really dopey.

Your dog is evidently terrified of storms. It feels safe in the bathtub. I hope this helps.

Wow you have a smart dog. That's so cute. I get in the bathtub when there is a tornado. It must make your dog feel safe.

Dogs feel safer in a den or smaller space.

In the bathtub, he is surrounded more than he would be in an open room.

He's afraid of the thunder. We used to have a dog that was about 100 lbs. and when it started to thunder she would try and be a lap dog. It was not a fun thing when it stormed out, she was so afraid that she shivered and her teeth chattered...no kidding.

The enclosed area probably makes him feel secure. You could take a lesson, as bathtubs are really supposed to be desirable in a thunderstorm/tornado.

feels safer there...dgos do revert to old ancient instincts including looking for a cave when frightened. ever notice a dog will always turn 3 times before lying down....wonder why? well in the wild it was to push down the tall grass to get a nice spot to lie on....they still do it tho even on carpet or dirt- same principal

My dog bangs against the walls as if he can hide in them, he goes under the bed, runs in circles, until it's over. Their hearing is 10 times more sensitive than ours therefore thunder to them is like someone banging a pot right next to out ears.

Dogs that are fearful of storms seek small enclosed places that they will feel safe.
