P.S. im african american girl with some mixed background with hair type almost 3b 2 4b hair type and I never use a flat iron before but im tired of getting perms and combing my hair daily. Can some 1 who knows about ethic hair care can suggest a good flat iron under $120 ? :p

CHI, my wife has it & loves it. when flat ironing your hair make sure it is on the hottest possible setting & keep the iron moving at all times, never stop. Also use some type of thermal protectant. good luck.

Im mixed race and I have african american hair as well. I find that the chi flat iron is better but it works best if your hair is already relaxed. You have to use lots of conditioners though or your hair will break alot. Also use anti- frizz shampoo try john friedas frizz ease.

hey! your the same race as me!
chi is the best flat iron for our kinda hair! nothing else will work good! but they are expensive they might be a little over 120$$...maybe about 150.
oh and one more thing...once you start a perm you cant stop other wise all your hair will break out!

i don't know about what those hair type type numbers mean but i own a sedu and it's ok. i have heard the chi is best, but both will damage your hair. have you thought of going natural? i embrace my curls now, i'm sick of doing my hair straight all the time. too much effort
